Department Chair: Carol Engelhardt Herringer, Ph.D.

The Department of History features sixteen full-time faculty positions and is an integral part of the university's College of Liberal Arts. The department has seven Europeanists, with a particular strength in Early Modern Germany and Denmark; six Americanists, representing a wide range of specialty fields; an Asianist, Latin Americanist, and Public Historian. In addition to undergraduate studies, the department awards the M.A. and has a strong tradition in Public History, including archival and museum management.
