About Mad River Review

Mad River Review, one of the first journals published under the auspices of Wright State University, came out in 1965 when Wright State was only a branch campus of Ohio State. The journal featured criticism, fiction, poetry, and reviews.

Mad River Review was again published in the 90s under a new editorial board with a focus on essays and reviews.

In its current incarnation, Mad River Review will be a venue for fiction, poetry, and essays. We hope to encourage regional writers, but don't let that stop you from submitting; we consider our region to be this quadrant of the galaxy. We are open to all genres, but we especially would like to see speculative or surrealist writing. Again: don't let that stop you. We're fishing in all waters, in the middle of the stream and under the murky banks.
