Abstract
The Milestone Project is a national initiative to redefine the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education competencies in the context of specialties and set performance standards by training level. The Pediatrics Milestones focus on a synthesis of relevant literature (background) and a series of behavioral descriptors of developmentalong the educational continuum (developmental milestones, DM). Cognitive interviews (CI) were used as a method to study the way residents understand, process, and respond to the Milestones.
