Description

The photograph shows the interior of the new Mess Hall at the National Military Home of Dayton, Ohio. The image is shot looking across the dining area of the Mess Hall and shows the tables set with meals waiting for the residents. The staff of the Mess Hall are gathered in the room for the photograph. The new Mess Hall was built to replace the second floor of the Grand Dining Hall so that the building was more accessible for disabled veterans. The photograph is from the twenty-second page of the photobook titled, "National Military Home Dayton" and published by Keyes Souvenir Card Company in Dayton, Ohio circa 1910. The photograph has a handwritten caption on the bottom that reads, "New Mess Hall."
