Description
A line of aircraft sit on the airfield waiting to take off for combat training. From the Dayton Daily News: "...The 89th is the flying unit of the 906th Tactical Fighter Group stationed at Wright-Patterson. The Phantoms have become a common part of the Miami Valley's sky since the Reserve group was activated in 1982.... ...The 89th trains for air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. Although the F-4 was conceived in the 1950s as an air-to-air interceptor for the U.S. Navy, it has proved potent in both roles. Air-to-air training is done in restricted airspace over Hillsboro. Phantoms dogfight with one another, recording potential "kills" electronically on videotape but firing no guns or missiles."
