This photograph shows poet Paul Laurence Dunbar fishing with a long pole from the banks of a river or creek, ca. 1900. Dunbar is pictured wearing casual slacks, a long-sleeved shirt, and a hat. A note written on the back of the photograph indicates that it was taken at the Toledo State Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
