Description

The Evening Item was a daily newspaper published by the Wright Brothers' Company, Item Publishing Co. This paper, published from April 1890 through July 1890, focused on world and local events. This Saturday edition of The Evening Item was published in two separate parts, but those parts have been combined here for ease of reading. The front page of this issue features stories about stock growth and decline, the election of former Senator Palmer of Michigan to the position of President of the World's Columbian Exposition, a bill admitting Wyoming into the Union with an included suffrage clause being passed, and more. On page eight there is a section called Practical Science that details a positive uses for milkweed, methods for determining the speed of a moving train, a way to create a light using phosphorus and cotton see oil, and more. Also included in this two part issue are short stories, anecdotes, fashion news, local and regional news, advertisements and more.
