    Description

The photograph shows the Miami Military Institute baseball team, ca. 1900. Cadets are posed seated on the steps of the president's home, wearing baseball uniforms and some have baseball gloves, with faculty on either side. James Henry "Henry" Fillmore, Jr. is the second cadet from the left sitting in the back row. William "Buck" Ewing from the Cincinnati Reds is on the far right side of the group wearing a derby hat and mustache. Ewing assisted in coaching the baseball team for the Miami Military Institute. At the foot of the steps arranged in the center of the group is a M.M.I. pennant, baseball, mask, and gloves. This photograph is from an album in the Martha McClellan Brown Collection.
