Description
The photograph shows the Miami Military Institute football team, ca. 1903. The cadets are at practice in football uniforms on a field below and adjacent to the school grounds. The field that the cadets are practicing on is now known as Veterans Memorial Park. Several of the cadets are looking at the football as it flies through the air toward a cadet on the right side of the image. Two cadets in service uniforms observe the others playing the game. A horse is standing on Warren Street behind the cadets and the entrance to the Miami Military Institute is on the right of the image. The school building, prior to the 1903 fire, and president's home for the Miami Military Institute are at the top of the hill in the background. This photograph is from an album in the Martha McClellan Brown Collection.
