Description
This image is taken from the audience of the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration medals ceremony held on the morning of Friday June 18, 1909 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. In the distance, school children are clothed in red, white, and blue to form the United States of America flag in the grandstands. On the main stage, General James Allen is presenting the Congressional Medals to the Wright Brothers. In the center of the stage are Wilbur and Orville Wright. To the left of Wilbur is General Allen. Lieutenant Frank P. Lahm, United States Army Signal Corps, is standing next to Allen. Next to Lahm seated on the left and wearing a dark suit and glasses is J. Sprigg McMahon, director of the ceremonies, and on his left is Governor Judson Harmon seen clapping his hands. Directly behind Wilbur, is Leontine Wright, the daughter of Lorin Wright. Seated on the right of Orville is Bishop Milton Wright. Lorin Wright's son Milton Wright is seated next to his grandfather. On the far right of the stage seated next to a pole is Reuchlin Wright. Behind the Bishop and Milton Wright, is Lorin Wright seated with his wife, Ivonette Stokes Wright on his right and his son Horace Wright on his left.
