Description
General Carlos Garcia Velez, Cuban Minister to the United States, is shown in conversation with other guests at the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration medals ceremony held on the morning of Friday June 18, 1909 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. General Velez's official title was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba. He is wearing one of the medals that was given to distinguished guests. The medal is comprised of a United States of America flag ribbon with a medallion of the Wright Brothers' profiles, a Wright Flyer adorns the top, along with a post labeled "Guest".
