Description
The image shows Wilbur and Orville Wright accepting medals at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds during the 1909 Wright Brothers Homecoming Celebration medals ceremony held on the morning of Friday June 18, 1909 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. During the presentation of the medals, Wilbur and Orville delivered a short speech to the crowd. On the right side of the image, Lieutenant Frank P. Lahm of the United States Army Signal Corps is seated. Seated behind Wilbur Wright are Leontine and Ivonette Wright, the daughters of Lorin Wright. In the grandstands, school children clothed in red, white, and blue, form the United States of America flag.
