    General Albert J. Bowley presents the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Albert W. Stevens. Captain Stevens received the medal for gallantry in remaining with his National Geographic Society-Army Air Corps stratosphere balloon until just before it crashed in a Nebraska cornfield.
