Description

Members of Air Service Post Number 501 of the American Legion pose with a scroll made for presentation to Orville Wright. Holding the scroll is Lt. General George E. Stratemeyer. On the extreme left is Sergeant at Arms Frances S. Jones. The scroll reads "The Members and Guests of Air Service Post #50 of the American Legion gathered together on December 17, 1947 at the Wings Club, New York City, wish to express to Orville Wright their sincere admiration and esteem on this forty-fourth anniversary of the first successful power-driven man-carrying flight in history."
