Description

A glass plate stereoview slide with handwritten label manille dans la cagna (Manille in a shelter). The image is of soldiers in a shelter playing cards and reading books and newspapers. The card game being played was "manille" a popular card game played with a deck of 32 and the tens ranked above the aces. The photograph was taken between July 28, 1914 and November 11, 1918 in France during World War I.
