World War I Glass Plate Stereoviews (MS-457)

The glass plate stereoview slides and viewer were purchased by Hugh O. Merron in Paris, France. Merron served in the American Expeditionary Forces stationed in France during World War I. The collection includes a stereoviewer and accompanying glass plate stereoscopic photographs of war scenes from World War I. Stereoscopic photographs are double pictures of the same scene, side by side, which produces a three-dimensional effect when viewed through a stereoviewer.
