The Veterans' Voices Project is a combined effort by Wright State University’s Veteran and Military Center and local NPR station WYSO. Wright State Veteran students record video interviews of Veterans ranging from World War II to the current conflicts. These interviews are then stored in both The Library of Congress and Wright State University archives. All of the interviews are available for viewing at the Library of Congress and Wright State archives. Some of these interviews will be viewable on The Library of Congress website.
Another aspect to this project is our partnership with the local NPR affiliate WYSO. WYSO will be airing pieces for the national project known as “Veterans Coming Home.” These pieces will be about transitions and struggles that Veterans in the Dayton area have faced and overcome.
This project is conducted by Veterans, for Veterans. Many military service members have never told their story, this is their chance to do it. Recording and archiving these stories preserves them for future generations.

Harold Wright and Adrian Hill
Harold Wright (DOB: June 6, 1931) joined the Navy in April 1951. He served as a surveyor and chief librarian in Iwakuni, Japan. He was discharged from the service in March 1955.

John Wright Interview for the Veterans' Voices Project
John Wright and Ericka Carter
John A. Wright was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps in November 1943. Mr. Wright served with the 424th Squadron, 13th Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War 2. Mr. Wright participated in nine combat missions during his time of service. Mr. Wright was discharged from the United States Army in 1946 having achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant.

David R. Yarborough and David L. Morse
David R. Yarborough (DOB: January 1, 1959) enlisted in the United States Army on June 28, 1977. He was a member of the 9th Infantry, 9th Military Police Company. He was stationed at Ft. McClellan, AL; Ft. Lewis, WA; and Cincinnati, OH. He achieved the rank of E4. He left military service in August 1980.

Roger Youngblood and David Berry
Roger Youngblood (DOB: August 4, 1944) was commissioned into the United States Air Force in February 1968. Mr. Youngblood served with the 19th and 1st Special Operations Squadron and with the 56th Special Operations Wing and the 353rd Tactical Fighter Squadron. Mr. Youngblood served in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia during the Vietnam War. Mr. Youngblood left the Air Force in 1992 having achieved the rank of Major.

Loghan Young (DOB: September 17, 1988) enlisted in the United States Army in September 2009. Ms. Young served at Fort Sill in Oklahoma and in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. She was a lead convoy driver during her time in Afghanistan. Ms. Young left military service in 2012.

Jordan Zimmerman Interview for the Veterans' Voices Project
Jordan Zimmerman and Jeremy L. Tkach
Jordan Zimmerman (DOB: July 10, 1987) enlisted in the United States Navy in April 2009. He joined the 3rd medical battalion stationed in Okinawa, Japan and served there during the 2011 earthquake that damaged the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant. He also served at the Naval Station Great Lakes and was deployed from there to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He received the FMF pin and the Navy Achievement medal. He achieved the rank of E-5 and left military service in August of 2015.
