Abstract

A new genus and two new species of Rhabditoidea (Nematoda: Secernentia) collected from diverse habitats in India are described. Flagicaudoides pawani gen. nov., sp. nov. from soil around the roots of banana in New Delhi, India is characterized by having a small sized body (L = 0.68-1.2 mm), weakly sclerotized cheilorhabdions, well developed glottoid apparatus, metastom with 3-4 prominently sclerotized swellings; gonads didelphic, vulva median; while the males have single testis, paired similar spicules, bursa rudimentary, genital papillae 10 pairs and tails in both sexes, short conoid rounded with a long flagellum-like process emerging from the central portion of the tail terminus. Cuticularia jenniferae sp. nov. collected from mushroom soil at Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India, is distinguished by having abundant males in the population; body small, less than 1 mm in length without longitudinal rows of dots on body, lip region continuous with body, stoma about three times its width long, metastom anisoglottid and with dentiles tail longer than one anal body width in both the sexes and males with 9 pairs of supplements. C. brevicorpus sp. nov. collected from rotting tree trunk at IARI, New Delhi, India is characterized by having the smallest body size (L = 0.40-0.60 mm) among the known species, has a long stoma, metastom anisoglottid with distinct tubercles, tails in both the sexes short cupola-like but longer than one anal body width and males with 8 pairs of supplements.
