Description
This session includes the reading and reflection of two poems: A Poem with Purpose- Alexa Ralicki - This poem shares a personal experience with the intersectionality of sex and disability, exemplified by parentng with mental illness. My hopes are to break the silence experienced by individuals with mental illness, encourage the reclaiming of identity without shame, and to include this often invisible population in the disability community. Slaying Dragons - Julie Williams - A tribute to my Dwarf sister who celebrated art, music and good wine. She never stopped fighting for love and liberated me from oppressive normative paradigms of beauty. She taught me to not be afraid. Because of her, I have strength and peace.
