Description
Marvel Comics X-Men not only overcome adversity and champion good, but also promote diversity and champion justice. As apt metaphors for persons with disabilities in society, the X-men advocated a social model of disability whereby society changes to assimilate the disabled person into society rather than “cure” the disability.
