Abstract
The enthalpies of vaporization of 22 polyatomic substances have been calculated at 298.15°K by using hard sphere reference assemblies (SPT and CST, respectively) and values for the effective hard sphere diameters obtained via gas solubilities. Agreement between calculated and observed values is in general good, especially for nearly spherical molecules. In addition, the difference of the molar heat capacity between gas and liquid was calculated for several substances and compared to experimental results with very good agreement.
