Abstract
In this paper, we examine the social decomposition of a mobile call graph using a new approach to measure the social tie strength between users. This approach improves upon the existing measures by considering any number of observations about the calls made and the local social structure. The results suggest that the dyadic hypothesis is valid in the context of mobile call graphs, and that strong ties play a critical role in the structure of the graph.
