Abstract
The state-space approach to linear system analysis and design has gained considerable popularity due to its symbiotic relationship with linear algebra. However, a considerable body of literature is based on the polynomial approach utilizing the external or matrix fraction description (MFD) of a linear system. A reliable way to compute MFDs is, therefore, of considerable importance.
