Abstract
In ‘‘Dr. Death: Reflections on Death Telling,’’ Dr. Walthall adeptly describes her usual ritual of relaying bad news after a patient’s death and the necessary deviation from her usual routine during the case of ‘‘Reverend X.’’ She relates the family members’ reaction to death notification as one of extreme emotion, including anger, screaming, and throwing themselves against the wall.
