The article explores technologies of the self via the boundaries that happen between the subject and other human and nonhuman entities in Gloria Anzaldúa's use of the concept of "la naguala," the shapeshifter. Topics discussed include the path of la naguala in Anzaldúa's work, her radical skepticism of Western ontology and the humanist subject, and the relationship between la naguala and Anzaldúan subjectivity.
