Abstract
The article discusses Friedrich Wilhelm August, the baron de Steuben, and how he made his way from Prussia to join George Washington's Continental Army in the revolutionary war against the British. Steuben's influential role in transforming the Continental Army, through training and officer regulations, and his subsequent role as the first inspector general of the U.S. Army are detailed in the article.
