Description
This is the first in a series of interviews with Dr. Robert J. Kegerreis, President of Wright State University. In this interview, Dr. Kegerreis discusses his background prior to coming to Wright State University, his appointments within the Wright State University College of Business and Administration, and his selection as the second President of the university.
In the first phase of this interview, Dr. Kegerreis discusses his early education and career, including: his undergraduate education; his military service in World War II; his post-graduate education; and his early career, first with the Federal Reserve System in Cleveland and then in his family's retail business. Dr. Kegerreis then relates how he made the decision to become an academic in the field of business education. He relates his experiences in the doctoral program in business at Ohio State University, with the emphasis on the value of his business experience in his doctoral program. In his discussions of his post-graduate years Dr. Kegerreis also discusses his views of the administration at Ohio State, his student activism and life as a doctoral candidate.
In the next phase of the interview, Dr. Kegerreis turns to his experiences as an academic. He discusses his first appointment, teaching at Ohio University. He then relates how he made the decision to apply for the position of Dean of the Wright State University College of Business, and then relates his thoughts on his subsequent appointment.
In the fourth segment of the interview, Dr. Kegerreis discusses his career at Wright State University. He examines his experiences as Dean of the College of Business, then discusses his appointment as Vice-President for Administration under President Brage Golding. Dr. Kegerreis also relates his thoughts and motivations concerning his decision to become a candidate for University President.
The last segment of the interview deals with the search for a President to succeed Dr. Brage Golding, Dr. Kegerreis's candidature for that position, and his appointment as President of Wright State University.
