Description
This is the first in a series of interviews with Dr. Alvin E. Rodin, Chairman of the Department of Postgraduate Medicine and Continuing Education in the Wright State University School of Medicine. In the first part of this interview, Dr. Rodin discusses his background prior to coming to the School, the establishment of the Department of Postgraduate Medicine and Continuing Education and its early activities, and the Department's affiliation with Greene Memorial Hospital. Dr. Rodin also discusses his position and responsibilities as Director of Medical Education at Greene Memorial Hospital.
In the second part of the interview, Dr. Rodin describes the organization and functions of the Department. He examines the four sections of the Department, and talks about faculty and staff development.
In the third portion of the interview, Dr. Rodin turns from the subject of the Development of Postgraduate Medicine and Continuing Education to discuss his tenure as Chairman of the School of Medicine's Department of Pathology.
Dr. Rodin returns to the Department of Postgraduate Medicine and Continuing Education in the final part of this interview, focusing on the impact of the Department on the medical student and resident. Particular focus is placed on the Selectives developed by the Department and the faculty development activities of the Department.
