In Greene County, the earliest naturalization records are found in the Common Pleas Civil Record, and span the years 1831-1846. From 1853 until 1861, naturalization records are found scattered throughout the Minute books of the Common Pleas Court. In addition, the District Court records hold naturalizations from 1852-1877.

In 1880, the first naturalization records to be issued from the Probate Court appeared. This practice continued until 1906, when naturalizations came under federal jurisdiction.
