Abstract
The parathyroid glands of rats given distilled water, to which 150 ppm F- was added, for 10 wk, contained abundant lamellar arrays of rough endoplasmic reticulum and multiple dilated Golgi complexes. Secretory granules were released within cytoplasmic projections and aggregations of glycogen granules were seen within the chief cell cytoplasm and within enlarged intercellular spaces. F- ingestion increased functional activity of the rat parathyroid gland.
