Abstract
In this paper, we present the results of an ongoing Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) research collaboration with Wright State University, Etegent LLC, and the Air Force Institute of Technology to produce more representative scale model measurements. As part of this collaboration, we developed an innovative radar measurement system that operates in the Terahertz band (500-750 GHz). This work is guided by the principle of producing scale model measurements that are representative of operational sensor system measurements of full-sized ground vehicles, which led to the development of the terahertz band system and the construction of 1/60 scale models of military ground vehicles. Here we present results using two different RF bands: 1/24 scale models at Ka-band (27-39 GHz) and 1/60 scale models in the Terahertz (570-630 GHz) band for the same nominal collection geometry. We present measured and corresponding synthetic predictions for use with error analysis and validation.
