Abstract
Theory of AC losses in type II superconductors is extended to include a surface layer with an enhanced density of pinning centres in the frame of the critical state model. The dependence of DC magnetic field at which the AC loss minimum occurs on an amplitude of AC magnetic field is calculated. A comparison with the experimental data for Nb-Ti alloys is discussed.
