    MS-147: Martha McClellan Brown

    Description

The photograph shows the annual military encampment of Miami Military Institute, 1901, referred to as "Camp MMI". The striped awning on the tent, far left, indicates the "mess tent" for dining. In the background the cadets tents are facing each other in two rows and a pyramid of rifles is in the foreground. Note also the horse-drawn excursion wagon, at the extreme right of photo. The excursion wagon was used for extracurricular outings such as fishing trips, picnics and visits to points of interest. This photograph is from an album in the Martha McClellan Brown Collection.
