Description

The photograph shows the Miami Military Institute band members and faculty advisors posed on steps to the school entrance, ca. 1905. Cadets are seated, wearing dress uniforms, and holding various musical instruments, including guitar, violins, bass drum, snare drum, mandolin, trumpets, tuba, and bugles. The third cadet from the left sitting in the second row is Kleon Thaw Brown the youngest brother of Orvon Graff Brown, president and founder of the Miami Military Institute. This photo is from an album in the Martha McClellan Brown Collection.
