Abstract
Vitamin E is a generic term for tocopherols and tocotrienols. The lesser characterized isoform á-tocotrienol (T3) exhibits neuroprotective properties not shared by tocopherols (TP). Previous work in a large animal model of stroke demonstrated that prophylactic supplementation of T3, but not TP, attenuates stroke mediated brain injury and improves pial collateral circulation.
