Abstract
During the past decade, interest in the function of high-performance teams has continually grown. This interest was sparked by AORN's early work on the Patient Safety First initiative and my work at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. Since 2002, personnel at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have been on a journey that started with team training.
