Bio
William B. Irvine is a professor of philosophy at Wright State University. He is the author of numerous papers, as well as six books including, most recently, Aha! The Moments of Insight that Shape Our World (Oxford University Press, 2015). These books have been translated into 10 different languages. He is also a book editor and publisher, most notably of Musonius Rufus: Lectures and Sayings, which was translated by Cynthia King, retired classics professor. His research is primarily concerned with topics that lie along the border between philosophy and science. Irvine is currently at work on a book that explores, from a philosophical viewpoint, the scientific story of how we humans came to exist. When not teaching or writing, he is a family man, a practicing Stoic, and a somewhat competitive rower.
