Description
This interview is with Dr. Richard DeWall, a prominent Dayton Cardio-thoracic surgeon. In this first interview Dr. DeWall discusses his background prior to coming to the Dayton area and his initial activities in the Cox Heart Institute and Kettering Memorial Hospital. He then goes on to describe how he first became interested in a school of medicine in Dayton, how he focused on Wright State University as the location for that school of medicine and his initial contacts with community and Wright State University leaders in which he lobbied for the school.
In the second part of this interview, Dr. DeWall discusses the initiation and development of the proposal for the establishment of a Ph.D. program in Medical Sciences and how that evolved into the proposal for a school of medicine. Dr. DeWall finishes the interview with his thoughts on the development and future of the Wright State University School of Medicine.
