Effect of Fullerene Nanospheres on Water Evaporation Kinetics and First-Order Thermal Transitions

Abstract
We investigate the evaporation kinetics and first-order thermodynamic transitions of C60/water solutions and find that the fullerene nanospheres cause a reduction in the evaporation rate, an increase in the evaporation point, and a slight increase in the freezing point of the system. The changes were found to be linearly dependent on the fullerene concentration in the solution, and the calculated change in entropy of evaporation indicates that fullerene molecules noticeably induce ordering in the water molecular structure. The results are discussed in light of findings from recent molecular simulation investigations.
