Abstract
An analytical nonlinear elasticity theory was developed and used to predict large deflection of laminated circular plates with clamped boundaries. For comparison purposes, numerical solutions were obtained with a finite element software, ANSYS. Experiments were carried out using a fibre optical displacement sensor to validate the theory. Results from these three approaches show agreement.
